Prime minister vows to overcome challenges posed by climate change

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reached Paris on a two-day official visit for the United Nations Conference on climate change starting from Monday, Radio Pakistan reported.

He will represent Pakistan during the international conference and deliver his speech on the opening day of the two-week-event.

The prime minister will highlight the steps taken by Pakistan in consideration of climate change.

Apart from speaking at the conference, PM Nawaz will hold separate meetings with world leaders.

Speaking to media upon arrival, the premier vowed to overcome the challenges of climate change, saying it was the world's collective responsibility to address them.

Meanwhile, Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid, who is accompanying the prime minister in Paris, said the conference was important for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to France Ghalib Iqbal said the prime minister would also have an informal meeting with French President Francois Hollande to show Pakistan’s solidarity with the French government and the people for the recent terrorist attacks.
