Nisar said the crackdown was launched with the consent of all political parties, including the MQM and PPP

WAH CANTT: Brushing aside the perception of a slowdown in the Karachi operation, the security czar has said the crackdown against criminals in the metropolitan city will continue till its ‘logical conclusion’.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Saturday that the law and order situation in Karachi had improved considerably since the beginning of the ongoing operation, which would be further intensified.

He was talking to the media during his visit to the Wah General Hospital in Wah Cantonment. He visited the hospital to review the ongoing construction work.

Nisar said the crackdown was launched with the consent of all political parties, including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The government, he added, was ready to address the reservations of the PPP and MQM regarding the operation.

“The government is committed to eliminating extremism and terrorism from the country,” he said, claiming the law and order situation in Quetta has also improved.



To a question about Dr Asim Hussain, he said the Rangers and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were investigating the charges against the former minister, and action would be taken as per law. “The interior ministry had vetted the Rangers’ investigation report and now NAB has launched a probe into the matter,” he added.

Responding to another question, Nisar said action would be taken against those involved in issuance of fake national identity cards.
