Officials said militants on a bike hurled the grenade at around 8:30 a.m. The device landed on the top of the house located in DI Khan Cantonment and exploded, but nobody was home at the time.
After the incident, City DSP Tauheed Gandapur and Cantt SHO Minhaj Sikandar Baloch, along with other officials, arrived at the spot to collect evidence.
DI Khan Cantonment police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the grenade attack and said such actions would not intimidate him. Talking to the media at his office in Peshawar, the minister reiterated his confidence in the leadership of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. He added the party chief would continue his efforts to ensure a brighter future for the country and its people.
In response to a question, Gandapur said he had no enmities.
“The police are engaged in an investigation and I am certain they will expose the culprits,” he said. “We are determined to combat such acts and threats.”
Former constable killed
A former police constable was shot dead by unidentified people in Zafar Colony, police told The Express Tribune. The victim had been ousted from service on October 9, 2013 due to prolonged absenteeism.
Meanwhile, DI Khan police conducted a search operation in Parowa and arrested 23 suspects, while recovering a shotgun, a rifle and a pistol along with several bullets.
The detained people were shifted to an unknown location. The police also checked hotels, restaurants, religious seminaries and educational institutions in DI Khan city as part of their security measures, said a statement issued by DPO Dera’s office.
