As the students injured in Tuesday’s ghastly Taliban attack on Army Public School struggle to cope with the emotional and physical trauma, high-profile visitors continue to make their way to Lady Reading Hospital to enquire after their health.
VIPs including MNA Marvi Memon and former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry were among the people who visited LRH on Thursday amid high security protocols.
Sniffer dogs searched the entire hospital before the former CJP’s six-vehicle convoy arrived.
Speaking to the media following his visit, Chaudhry said the government needs to provide enough evidence to build a case against the militants because most criminals get acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Following her visit, PML-N leader Marvi Memon said the prime minister has issued directives for rehabilitation of the injured children and their parents.
According to Memon, a team of psychologists has arrived in Peshawar for counselling.
Meanwhile, lawmakers of the provincial government also visited the houses of victims who died in the school attack to condole with the bereaved families.
Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar, MPA Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and several others visited houses in Gulberg, Sikandarpura, Nishtarabad, Landi Arbab, Imam Bargah Hussainia as well as Saddar. Speaking on the occasion, Ghani announced Rs500,000 as compensation for the heirs of the deceased and Rs200,000 for injured people.
