Sara Haines reveals past workplace romance on ‘The View’ latest episode

The star is now married to Max Shifrin, whom she met online.

Sara Haines, co-host of ABC's 'The View,' brought a touch of personal experience to the show's recent episode.

While discussing a current event about a workplace relationship, Haines took a moment to share her own past with dating a coworker.

“I did dip in the company ink when I was single,” Haines admitted on the episode. 

She went on to emphasize the importance of caution, adding, “There are right ways to do this, and wrong ways. Don’t do it in a department where there’s power dynamics. 

“I dated someone in a complete different wing of the building, I did not deal with him daily.”

Haines, now happily married to Max Shifrin, also acknowledged the challenges, but the undeniable allure, of meeting potential partners at work. 

“I don't know how some people avoid it when you come to a place to work around the clock, to try to make a career,” she said on the show, according to the episode transcript. 

“You're with people all the time!” Haines exclaimed, highlighting the close proximity that can spark connections in an office setting.

Haines also touched on the potential awkwardness of breakups within an office environment. 

Sunny Hostin, Haines' co-host, pressed her on this point, asking, “What happens, Sara, when you break up and you've seen each other naked and now you've got to walk by each other?” 

Haines' response, though lighthearted, highlighted the importance of professionalism: “Well, awkward in the office is not unique to romantic relationships,” she said. 

“There are a lot of dynamics in offices that are weird, it's called being a grown-a-- adult. It was fine, we dated for years, it was great.”

Following her workplace romance, Haines met her now-husband Shifrin on a dating app, a story she shared in a 2019 interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle.

“I believe you have to create your own luck, so I thought I'm not running into my boo at a produce department or tripping on him on a street, like all the rom-coms told me I would, so I need to add some effort here,” Haines shared.

She later explained that this approach led her to Shifrin's profile on OkCupid. The couple wed in 2014 and now share three children.
