SNGPL’s Safi, Bhatti and Azizullah claim three wickets apiece on first day of fifth round

KARACHI: SNGPL bowlers dismissed Port Qasim for a paltry 119 in their first innings of the fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Monday.

Asked to bat first, Port Qasim made 119 in 42.3 overs as Ahmed Safi, Bilawal Bhatti and Azizullah took three wickets each. At the end of play, SNGPL were batting on 95-5 with Azhar Ali on 32 while Zohaib Shera took four wickets.

At the Pindi Stadium, Karachi Whites’ bowlers restricted Rawalpindi on 172 in 50.2 overs as Adeel Malik took four wickets, while Babar Rehman and Ghulam Mudassir claimed three scalps each.

Aqib Shah (54) was the highest scorer for the hosts. At the end of play, Karachi Whites were batting on 58-1.

Despite Lahore Whites’ Saifur Rehman claiming a five-wicket haul at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Fata’s Fawad Khan’s 108-run knock guided his team to a first innings total of 314 with Rehan Afridi scoring 52. At the end of play Lahore Whites were batting on 20-2.

At the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, a century by Aamir Sajjad helped Wapda reach 310-8 against NBP with Bismillah Khan scoring 84.

Meanwhile, Shan Masood scored 97 along with Sharjeel Khan, who scored 72, to take UBL’s first innings total to 365-4 at the end of day one at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad, while at the National Ground in Islamabad, HBL reached 233-5 against KRL with the help of Imran Farhat’s 95-run knock. At the end of play, Aftab Khan was batting on 65, while Muhammad Abbas took four wickets.

At the LCCA Ground, Lahore Blues reached 231-7 with the help of Saad Nasim (67) against Peshawar, while Agha Salman was batting on 35 at stumps, while at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad, Hyderabad were 262-8 at the end of play.
