Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Hamza takes five as Hyderabad fall on 197

UBL bowler helps team to establish 141-run lead on day two of round four

KARACHI: Mir Hamza’s five-wicket haul enabled UBL to restrict Hyderabad to 197 runs in their first innings in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s fourth round at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Hosts Hyderabad, who resumed their innings on 17-1, managed to add just 180 runs in 67.5 overs as Hamza picked up five wickets for 42 runs, with Hammad Azam taking two for 25. Zeeshan Gul (63) was the highest scorer for Hyderabad. At the end of play, UBL were leading with 141 runs with six wickets in hand.

The Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar played host to an unbeaten century by Zohaib Khan (138), with Muhammad Wasif Khan scoring 94 to increase Peshawar’s lead over Port Qasim to 346 runs on day two.

At the LCCA Ground in Lahore, HBL added 147 runs to their overnight score of 184-4 with the help of Aftab Khan (95) and Umar Gul (61), while Lahore Whites’ Asif Raza took five wickets. The hosts were batting on 98-4 at stumps.

Wapda went up from 350-7 to 440 as Aamir Sajjad scored 178 with Zulfiqar Babar contributing 89 runs against Fata, who then lost eight wickets for 217 runs as Zulfiqar and Waqas Maqsood bagged three scalps each.

At the Pindi Stadium, Akber Rehman’s 128, along with Fawad Alam’s 93, helped NBP post 453 in their first innings against Rawalpindi. By the end of play, hosts Rawalpindi were 188-7 as Ahmed Jamal snapped up two wickets with Ziaul Haq also taking two.

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: KRL thump Lahore Whites by 10 wickets

SNGPL resumed their innings on 345-7, scoring 100 runs more as Adnan Akmal struck 148 and Bilawal Bhatti lent a hand with 72 runs against Lahore Blues at the Gaddafi Stadium. The hosts were on 243-5 with Fahadul Haq (75) and Agha Salman (33) at the crease.

Meanwhile, hosts Karachi Whites lost five wickets and were trailing by 41 runs against KRL with Jahad Ali (55) and Saad Ali (41) holding fort.

At the Diamond Ground in Islamabad, visitors SSGC posted 375 runs in 113.4 overs with Islamabad batting on 98-2 by the end of the day.
