Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Adil, Raees reduce Lahore Blues to 36-7

UBL duo share five wickets on day two of round three

KARACHI: UBL’s Ehsan Adil and Rumman Raees reduced Lahore Blues to 36-7 on the second day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s third round at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

Lahore Blues lost their seven wickets in just 14 overs as Adil claimed three scalps and Raees took two wickets, conceding 21 and six runs respectively.

UBL had earlier resumed their first innings on 176-2 and added 256 runs in 56 overs with the help of Saeed Bin Nasir (128) and Umair Khan (100).

At the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, hosts Hyderabad resumed their innings against SNGPL on 4-0 and added 250 runs with a loss of nine wickets as Shoaib Laghari scored 78 runs with Kashif Bhatti (58) and Faisal Akhtar (55) providing able support. SNGPL’s Asad Ali took three wickets and Hussain Talat, Bilawal Bhatti and Imran Khalid captured two each.

Meanwhile, Abid Ali’s impressive 136 and Shahid Yousaf’s 70 led Islamabad to 270-6 against Port Qasim, while Peshawar reached 217-6 against SSGC as Akbar Badshah and Israrullah scored 53 and 48 respectively.

In the Pool B fixture, unbeaten centuries from Fawad Alam (127) and Umar Waheed (115) guided NBP to 251-2 against Karachi Whites, who had earlier resumed their innings on 166-7 and added 61 runs to their 227-run total as NBP’s Ziaul Haq took six wickets. NBP were leading by 24 runs at the close of play.

Elsewhere, Rawalpindi were restricted on 183 as HBL’s Ammad Butt dismissed five batsmen with Umar Gul taking two wickets. HBL were batting on 36-3 after 12 overs by the end of day two.

In another match, Fata’s Muhammad Zeeshan earned five scalps with Razaullah Wazir picking up three to restrict KRL on 107 in their first innings. Fata had earlier added 62 runs to their overnight score of 106-5 and were leading with 112 runs in their second innings with four wickets in hand at stumps.

At the LCCA Ground, Lahore Whites amassed 324-6 in their first innings with the help of Anus Mehmood (70) and Usman Sallahuddin (59).
