Poetess Dr Najma Shaheen said the conference was being organised as a celebration of 100 years of Urdu in Turkey. She said she would present her thesis Khaleej main Urdu at the conference.
Dr Najeeb Jamal, a prominent literary figure, said he would present his thesis Safar Namon mein Turkey at the conference. He commended the Istanbul University for organising the event and said he was glad that Urdu was gaining prominence at the international level.
Several Urdu poets, writers and intellectuals from Kuwait, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Bangladesh, India, America, Denmark, Armenia, France and Norway would also join the conference. She said the participants would focus on various issues regarding the promotion of Urdu language. From Pakistan, Academy of Letters Chairman Qasim Bhugio, Dr Najeeb Jamal, Afzaal Hussain Rehan, Ali Moin, Ashraf Kamal, Ataullah Shah, Attiya Syed, Azmat Rubaab, Beena Govindi, Farrukh Suhail Govindi, Fatima Hassan, Hameeda Shaheen, Humaira Naaz, Asmatullah Zahid, Khalid Mubeen, Maryum Eraij, Fatima Ali, Mian Mushtaq, Muhammad Kamran, Muzamal Ghias, Muhammad Shoaib, Suhail Shafique, Muzammala Shafique, Nasir Abbas Nayyar, Nelo Fazal Tawana, Nigar Sajjad Zaheer, Saadat Saeed, Sheema Rabbani, Sofia Yousuf, Sughra Sadaf, Tariq Ilyas, Tariq Mehmood Hashmi, Ayub Khawar, Yousuf Khushk, Zaiba Iftikhar and Ziaul Hassan would participate in the conference.
Dr Shaheen said that Nend Kaswar Vikram, Asif Zahiri, Muhammad Kazim, Najma Rehmani, Saleem Mohiuddin, Anwar Aalam from India, Sadaf Mirza from Denmark, Raza Ali from London, Taqi Aabidi, Arooj Roshni from Kuwait, and Irshid Farooq from Finland will participate the conference.
