Powerlifting: Pakistan bag seven medals in all

The other three gold medals were earlier won by Pakistan women, taking the total medal tally to seven

Rashed Muhammad Malik added a fourth gold medal to Pakistan’s tally at the 2015 Asian Bench Press Championship in Muscat, Oman.


Malik, competing in the 105kg category is also a coach and trainer in the Pakistan Powerlifting Federation.


Meanwhile, Nadeem Hashmi bagged a bronze in the 105kg event and Mahmood Heera secured a silver in the 120kg competition. Sohail Butt finished third in the 93kg event, in which Iraq took the gold and Lebanon bagged silver.


The other three gold medals were earlier won by Pakistan women, taking the total medal tally to seven.


According to Malik, the tour has been the most successful one for Pakistan, with all seven athletes winning medals in their respective categories. The Pakistan team has also qualified for the 2016 World Classic Powerlifting Championships, which will take place in India in January 2016.
