BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was allegedly poisoned by her in-laws on Saturday night.

The woman's uncle, Ateequr Rehman, a resident of Mohallah Naik, Rahim Yar Khan, said Rubina had married Abdul Samad of Jinnah Park in a watta satta arrangement.

Rehmad said Samad, his siblings Sumaira Bibi and Farhan and their mother Najma Bibi used to mistreat Rubina and poisoned her dinner on Saturday.

Further, he said she was taken to a hospital but by that time, the poison had done the harm and she died. She was laid to rest on Sunday.

Police said they had taken Samad into custody and were interrogating him.

Meanwhile, her in-laws said Samad and Rubina used to argue often. They said she had been depressed because of the constant bickering and had swallowed poison.
