Five terrorists killed in Badhaber base attack identified

Sources say three terrorists belonged to Khyber Agency while two were from Swat district

Five TTP-linked terrorists who were killed in the Badhaber base attack on Friday have been identified through their fingerprints, Express News reported on Sunday.

Ibrahim, Siraj, Rabnawaz, Adnan and Muhammad Ishaq have been identified as five of the 14 terrorists who were killed following an attack on a PAF base in Peshwar early on Friday.

"Three of them belonged to Khyber Agency while the other two were from Swat district," a source said.

Further, investigative authorities wrote a letter to the political administration of Khyber Agency seeking details of the families and relatives of the terrorists.

Earlier today, a postmortem examination of the bodies of all 14 terrorists was conducted which were later buried in a Badhaber graveyard. The source said the attackers appeared to be aged between 19 to 27 years.

On Saturday, police rounded up dozens of suspects and a case was registered against them. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) registered the FIR under terrorism charges on the complaint of the Badhaber camp commandant. “The FIR has been registered and the CTD will investigate the matter,” an official of the Badhaber police station had confirmed The Express Tribune.

Further, in a search operation launched by the Badhaber police around the airbase, 28 suspects, including some Afghan refugees, had been taken into custody for interrogation. Police and security forces also launched joint search operations in the cantonment area and the PAF airbase in Kohat, arresting another 96 suspects with weapons, including repeaters, Kalashnikovs, shotguns and pistols.

On Friday, at least 29 people, including an army captain, were killed as militants attacked a heavily-guarded Pakistan Air Force base in Badhaber area on the outskirts of Peshawar, senior security officials had said.

And please do try to grow up a bit, and perhaps aim at being a tad mature and reasonable, it does help you know.

The present ruling and opposition junta are from the same breed of corrupt,lacking vision, lairs, giving false statements to misguide the nation. They consider Pakistan as their own territory to earn money and invest out side Pakistan. Surroundings of all important and strategic places be combed and refugees be kept miles away from these places. If it is not done their will be a replay of such incidences

India & Pakistan both got independence same time. India is ruled by elected govt since then. Why pak is under military rule most of these years? People are not capable to elect their own govt? Do you think under military rule, revenue will be spent judiciously for welfare, education, job creation, employment? No. They will spend mainly on defence. It is natural unemployed youth will be driven to terrorism / criminal activity for easy money. I do not say Hindus are total innocent. Growth in india is also slow because of some corrupt politicians and officials. But atleast they elect their own govt and part of the growth.

We gave them months of advance notice that some action would be taken against them. Except our brave soldiers and their field commanders, the rest of authorities, planners and strategists are incapable, lazy and stupid.

Where is the evidence? The links so far only go as far as territories in Pakistan.

As for Taliban its Pakistan which 'facilitates' talks with Taliban so who is connect to these Taliban? Pakistan more like.

During the act, the communication was recovered and it originates from Afghanistan. He never said they were afghan citizens.. and never he said they were from Hindus-tan; Sorry to disappoint you, but never Pakistan jumps to such conclusion or dreams one up.. that it was Hindus-tani or Afghanis-tani; But on the contrary, Pakistan and ISI are immediately blamed to be the father of the child born to any unwed woman Hindus-tan... in the first minute of the child's birth...;

Its in Afghanistan where their sanctuaries and leadership are present and operate them. they can not operate freely in tribal areas of Pakistan. I am not surprised if they are brainwashed or purchased to do such evil deeds. Mullah Fazalullah is from Swat (Pakistan) but he is the leader of TTP and operates and lives in Afghanistan. I belong to tribal areas myself. I hope it explains.

Maybe India should also focus on fingerprints identification from Nadra database .

ishrat salim | 8 years ago | Reply We have a re-active police force who reacts after the incident takes place. Why were the surrounding areas of Badhaber base & Kohat base not checked before ? When are we going to learn ? When are we going to become a pre-emptive & pro-active force ? We tend to become complacent after taking credit of successful operation without realizing what was the ensuing result in terms of casualties against numbers of terrorists killed, our causalities are always more, why ? our human lives less valuable. What makes me so pessimistic is due to the fact that, while the terrorists have maintained similar strategy, we have remained unresponsive. We do not heed & take any threat warning seriously, we do have properly manned check post at a much distance from actual base - this being the first line of defense, especially when there was only 1 road leading to the camp base. No proper mechanism to STOP sale of LEAs uniform. No proper mechanism to keep all check post around the city informed of LEAs movement, so that any suspicious vehicle with uniformed person could be stopped. All surrounding areas should have been combed to keep the base safe. All these action does not need rocket science, but will power, sense of responsibility & professional approach.

An afghan journalist also said that ttp contacted their agency from an afghan cellular phone do we need to write in urdu or their preferred language? Attacks were done from afghan no doubt. Just like APS. Afghan refugees have links with most of the attacks in the country it's about time we tie the knot and send em back, it's a pity that even afghan govt right now do not want them that's why they want to extend their stay for another 2 years as if 30 years weren't enough. Send em to India.
