RAWALPINDI:

Acting on the Express News’ exposure of the abduction issue, Rawalpindi police chief Israr Abbasi ordered the SHO to bring back the affected woman’s brother, Majid Mushtaq, to Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

The SHO, who was forced to follow orders, dropped Majid Mushtaq home, otherwise the Rawalpindi police is using full force to pressurise Shaista into issuing a statement according to the dictation of the television rating firm Medialogic so that its conspiracy against Express News could succeed.

It seems that unless the government conducts a transparent investigation instead of remaining a silent spectator, Medialogic will continue to hatch new plots against Express News.

Shaista Mushtaq’s brother, Majid Mushtaq, in his statement in the inquiry, accused the police of harassing the witnesses instead of registering the case. “We were called for inquiry seven times in the past seven days, we recorded our and our neighbours’ statements, and to top it all, we were arrested,” he fumed.

CCPO Rawalpindi has met the affected family five times. He has also visited the locality and met the people in the neighbourhood who have confirmed that CIA Inspector Bashir and CIA staff picked up the two brothers from their home.

Khalid Dost balks at oath-taking

Medialogic General Manager Khalid Dost refused to take oath on the Holy Quran that he would speak the truth before the police inquiry team.

Dost was summoned at the Race Course police station, where in the presence of the inquiry team he could not give satisfactory answers to any question of the affected family. He also refused to take oath on the Holy Quran.
