Two militants of a banned organisation were killed and 12 others arrested in a search operation in the Nag area of Panjgur district on Saturday.

According to the Frontier Corps spokesman, the paramilitary force had received intelligence reports that some insurgents belonging to a banned outfit were holed up in the Nag area. Acting on the tip-off, FC troops carried out a search operation and cornered the miscreants.

The militants opened fire on the FC troops, triggering a gunfight, the spokesman said, adding that “two militants were killed and 12 arrested in exchange of fire.”

The militants were involved in kidnapping, attacks on FWO, security forces and citizens, he said. The militants were shifted to an unidentified location for further investigation.

Separately, two militants belonging to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were arrested from Zhob district, he said.
