KARACHI:

Law enforcement agencies have chalked out their strategy to counter violent incidents during collection of hides of animals sacrificed during the upcoming Eidul Azha.

The strategy includes police high-ups ensuring special deployment to check thefts and snatching of hides of sacrificial animals, while special protocol will be given to hide transportation vehicles.

They would have to inform authorities concerned about their transportation vehicles and their routes before moving.

Police officials have also been asked to conduct meetings with area representatives of political and religious parties, as well as non-governmental organisations and devise a foolproof plan to counter any possible violence.

All kinds of licences permitting the carrying weapons will also be suspended during the three days of Eidul Azha.

According a copy of a letter issued by the Additional Inspector General of Karachi, Mushtaq Mahar, the lay down policy for the collection of hides and skins will be explained to the organisations in a meeting and written undertaking will be obtained for observing these instructions from them while recommending or issuing permission for the collection of hides and skins.
