KARACHI: Reigning Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) champions K-Electric (KE) will have to do without their head coach Majid Shafiq after the latter decided to part ways with the team.

Shafiq had guided KE to the 2016 Asian Football Confederation Cup qualifiers — the first time any Pakistani club reached the level — after just three weeks in charge.

The England Football Association (FA) certified coach said in a statement on Saturday that he will concentrate on his project, Aspirations Pakistan Football Alliance, in order to help bring a change in the country’s football landscape.

“I came to K-Electric for two objectives; to uplift the level of coaching to what could be regarded as international standards and to learn about PPFL and see where football has gone wrong in Pakistan,” said Majid. “I feel that both objectives have been achieved and my journey for growing football across the country will now continue.”

On the other hand, Hassan Baloch will resume his duties as the head coach at KE.
