This potential can be tapped via regional and bilateral agreements and initiatives, she said. Chohan recently called upon Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) CEO Tariq Puri at his office and discussed issues pertaining to the promotion of trade with South America in general and Argentina in particular.
The ambassador stressed the importance of other smaller markets in the region, including Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay. It was decided that Pakistan would hold a fair in Argentina next year in order to introduce a range of locally manufactured goods, particularly textile.
TDAP will send a high-powered trade delegation, comprising leading textile manufacturers and exporters, to Argentina for the fair so that they can meet their counterparts and explore ways of entering the market.
Pakistan’s major exports to Argentina last year included artificial silk, cotton cloth, synthetic textile, footballs and surgical and medical goods.
