LAHORE: The Punjab University has changed the existing rules for MA and MSc examinations.

The changes will take effect from the 2016 annual examinations.

According to the notification, students who pass BA/BSc supplementary examinations will be eligible for appearing in the MA/MSc exams the next year. Earlier, such students were required to wait an entire year before appearing in the exams.

Under the new regulations, students can take composite exams. The practice had been discontinued in 2010. Students can now take the MA Part 1 and 2 exams in a single year or in two years. Only students who have passed their bachelor’s examination two years ago will be eligible to take these exams.

Students who are unable to pass their MA/MSc Part 2 exams in the attempts they are allowed will now only have to reappear in Part 2 papers. Previously, such students had to reappear both in Part 1 and Part 2 exams.

The PU examination department has also increased the grace marks available for MA/MSc examinations from 5 to 10. PU Examination Controller Dr Shahid Munir said the changes had been made to facilitate students.

Separately, the BA/BSc 2015 annual examination result is expected to be announced from August 27 to 29, an official of the department said.
