Insufficient facilities: SEF cancels contracts of 22 schools

LARKANA:

Twenty-two schools established by Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) have been closed in the city due to insufficient facilities available to students.

A total of 24 schools were opened by SEF under its integrated education learning programme. The contracts for establishing these schools were given when more than 100 students were registered, said SEF official Naheed Abbasi.

The building and the furniture were to be of good quality, she claimed. The contractors were to ensure that these conditions were met, she added. The contract of 22 schools has been cancelled as they failed to meet the standards, said Abbasi.

The schools' unemployed teachers met the education secretary, Fazlullah Pechuho, to seek his help in making the schools operational again. Pechuho later informed the delegation that SEF head, Naheed Shah, has made the right decision. He told them that the schools will not be reopened until the requirements are fulfilled.
