Round two: TCKP to take charge of rest houses

PESHAWAR:


The provincial government will hand over 17 more rest houses to the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) in Galiyat.


This was stated in a handout issued by the corporation on Tuesday.


“In the first phase of the devolution project, the government had transferred control of 15 Galiyat rest houses to the corporation to facilitate tourists,” read the statement. “The second phase will also comprise similar transfers.”


According to the document, the process of handing over charge of rest houses and properties in other tourist resorts of the province will be carried out in the third phase of the plan. “TCKP has also generated Rs2 million as revenue from the 15 rest houses in a very short span of time,” the handout quoted TCKP Media Manager Zehra Alam as saying. “For the first time in history, a large number of tourists visited Galiyat during the last few weeks.”
