Police constable killed, three injured in Quetta blast

Constable was checking the packet received by Gawalmandi police station when it exploded

QUETTA: At least one police constable was killed and three passersby were injured in a blast in Quetta’s Gawalmandi Chowk Tuesday evening.

“The constable was checking the packet received by Gawalmandi police station when it exploded,” said DIG Quetta Manzoor Sarwar. “As a result the police constable was killed on the spot and three passersby sustained injures.”

Around four to five killogrammes of explosives were used in the blast, he added.

Police and law enforcement agencies soon reached the site and cordoned off the area.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Quetta.

Earlier during the day, at least four bullet-riddled bodies, including those of two women, were found near Airport Road in the provincial capital.
