KARACHI:

All Pakistan Lady Health Workers Employees Association, Sindh, staged a demonstration and a sit-in outside Karachi Press Club on Monday against the officials for taking bribe for the issuance of offer letters and for not receiving salaries for the past four months.

Over 100 lady health workers from across Sindh attended the sit-in under the leadership of the association's provincial president, Khairunnisa Memon, general secretary Shahnaz Ranjhani and Karachi president Samina Ghani. The health workers demanded the release of their salaries and removal of the provincial coordinator.

Memon said that the employees of National Programme for Family Planning and Primary Health Care, including supervisors, lady health workers, account supervisors and drivers, have been deprived of their salaries since four months. She said that offer letters were being issued after taking bribe from health workers.

She demanded the formation of judicial commission to probe mismanagement and irregularities. Memon said that the workers were not being paid as per their scale. She added that lady heath workers in Sindh were paid Rs7,000 only, while the other provinces are paying Rs8,000.
