PESHAWAR:

The counter-terrorism department has arrested a militant from the city.

According to a handout issued on Friday, a special police unit of the department arrested a militant who has been on the run since 2009.

He has been identified as Muhammad Karim, a resident of Khyber Agency, who was wanted by police for his involvement in a bomb attack in Tajabad in 2009. “The terrorist was taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation,” reads the statement.

A day earlier, CTD arrested a suspected militant in a raid in Mattani. Mustaqeem, a resident of Adezai, was wanted in numerous cases of anti-state activities, including an attack on a school in 2013.

Meanwhile, IGP Nasir Durrani has suspended Sheringal SHO following a complaint received by a local.

According to details, a resident of Upper Dir submitted a written application to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa IGP, saying SHO Rahman Yusuf had wrongly registered a rape case against the complainant’s tenant. As a result, Durrani suspended Yusuf and ordered an enquiry against him.
