Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Tuesday Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s 'foul speeches' worsen Karachi's situation.

“Karachi’s situation worsens when Altaf uses foul language in his speeches,” the interior minister said, while addressing a press conference at the Police Lines in Rawalpindi.

“Altaf’s case is not political but judicial and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government does not have any enmity against MQM,” Nisar stressed while responding to a question.

“I have personally advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi not to make this issue MQM versus PTI and he, along with other PTI MNAs agreed with me,” Nisar explained.

Regarding Dr Imran Farooq murder case, the minister said, it is a case of a Pakistani who was murdered in Britain and the current government was extending its full cooperation with the Scotland Yard.

“The Scotland Yard has publicly acknowledged our cooperation in Imran Farooq’s murder case; however,” Nisar said, “The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government failed to cooperate with British authorities to help them resolve the investigation.”

The interior minister also said the government was preparing a legal reference to be sent to the British government against the MQM supremo.

“We are preparing a legal reference against Altaf this time in which an element of criminality will be involved but this must not be confused with writing a letter,” Nisar said.

The details of the legal document will be shared with the media in a few days, he added.

Earlier, addressing policemen at the event the interior minister lauded the services and sacrifices of the police and other security agencies for the protection of the people.

“We do not want to keep any difference among the police of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkwa and Blochistan,” Nisar claimed, adding he took pleasure in strengthening institutions.

The interior minister also acknowledged that policemen perform their duties to ensure the country’s internal peace and security despite the lack of modern equipment and training.
