BAHAWALPUR:

Jamaat-i-Islami Punjab leader Syed Wasim Akhtar said on Monday Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s recent comments amounted to treason. He said Hussain’s comments should be condemned.

“Altaf is desperate for India’s help,” he said in a statement. He said MQM’s ties to the RAW should be investigated.

He said the media should stop giving airtime to MQM leaders.

Akhtar said the government should disband criminal groups being patronised by the MQM and put an end to extortion and target killings.

He said Altaf Hussain, a British citizen, was inciting violence in Pakistan and spreading hatred for the armed forces.
