Land Rights: Women beaten over property

The women were taken to a hospital where doctors later said their condition was stable

BAHAWALPUR: Police said that they had arrested four men on Monday after they broke into the house of a widow and beat her and her children. Malik Ejaz, a resident of Uch Sharif, told newsmen that Taj, Gul Hassan, Shahid, and Shahzad had broken into their house and had beaten his mother and sisters over a property dispute. He said that they had also damaged furniture and broke windows of the house. He said that some neighbours had called police during the commotion. Police arrested them and registered an FIR against them under Sections 427, 452, 148/149 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The women were taken to a hospital where doctors later said their condition was stable.
