Police and doctors confirmed the minor girl was raped before she was strangled to death. Police believe the perpetrators live in the same neighbourhood and have started investigations.
The girl went missing after leaving her house in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth in KDA Scheme-33 at about 9:30pm on Thursday. “We thought she went to visit her friends in the neighbourhood. We started searching for her when she did not return after several hours,” said the girl’s father, Zahid Mehmood Arain, a humble labourer. The body was found in a ditch surrounded by bushes Friday morning.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects. “This is not the first such case in the area,” said Sachal DSP Khalid Khan. “In most of the previous cases, we found the culprits lived in the same area of the victims. They kill the victims out of fear that the victim would name them.”
Police have deputed informers in the area and started recording statements of the victim’s family, relatives and neighbours.
