As security forces retaliated, three militants were gunned down

BANNU: At least two security personnel  and three suspected militants were gunned down early Thursday morning during a clash in Bannu's Daryoba area.


Officials confirmed that a group of militants attacked the security checkpost at Dayoba in the early hours of the day, in the Frontier Region of Bannu adjacent to North Waziristan; and opened indiscriminate fire on security forces.

Initial reports revealed that the attack was conducted on a large scale with militants in possession of modern and sophisticated weapons.

As a result of the firing, various parts of the check-post were destroyed and two security personnel were killed.

In retaliatory fire, ISPR claimed three suspected militants were gunned down while others managed to escape.

Security forces cordoned off the area and commenced a search operation.
