FAISALABAD:

Scores of residents of Hasanpura staged a protest demonstration on Monday against alleged negligence of a doctor at a private clinic near Civil Lines police station.

The protesters gathered in front of the clinic and later entered the building and damaged furniture.

Talking to newsmen, Yasir Sharif, one of the protesters, said 50-year-old Shehnaz Bibi, had visited the clinic at Jail Road with a liver problem.

He said the doctor on duty had given her an injection, after which her condition deteriorated.

He said the doctor had apparently failed to diagnose her disease.

He said she had died within minutes getting the injection.

The protesters chanted slogans against the doctor and said the Health Department should seal his clinic.

A team from Civil Lines police station met the protesters and assured them that their complaint would be investigated and action would be taken if negligence was established.

The protesters dispersed on this assurance.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the Civil Lines SHO said the doctor and the nurses on duty had fled when the protesters barged into the clinic. The SHO said a team had been formed to arrest the doctor.
