LAKKI MARWAT:

Locals in Lakki Marwat are experiencing a hike in fuel prices as filling stations are charging more than what the government has mandated.

“The filling stations get petrol and diesel according to laws and prices fixed by the government.

However, some stations are selling their products to unregistered petrol agencies that further sell at even higher prices,” said All Filling Stations Association of Lakki Marwat president Haji Sagheer Nawaz Khan.

He said the association is willing to help the district administration to tackle this problem. “Overcharging for fuel directly affects the general public,” he said, pointing towards the multiplier effect fuel costs have on the prices of everyday foodstuff. He claimed none of the members of the association have hiked the prices.

However, the association will cooperate with the district government even if its own member is accused of overcharging, he added.
