FAISALABAD:

A death row prisoner was hanged at Faisalabad Central Jail on Tuesday morning.

The jail superintendent said Muhammad Abid alias Boota, a resident of Chak 38-GB, had shot dead Yasin in 1998 over an enmity. He was awarded death penalty by Additional Sessions Judge Shahid Rafiq.

Superior courts later upheld the decision. His mercy petition had been turned down by the president. More than three dozen relatives of Boota had met him before he was hanged.
