Improving work force: USEFP holds pre-departure orientation seminar

ISLAMABAD:

The US State Department wants to support the Community College Initiative Programme (CCIP) to make a difference, build a better economy, bring new innovations and contribute towards youth employment, said the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Academic Programmes Managing Director Marianne Carven.

Addressing an orientation seminar on Friday organised by United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) for 76 young professionals who will be heading off to various community colleges in US for a period of ten months to sharpen their work specific skills, she said that community colleges are places of great innovation and engaging with new culture

USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar said that although this is not a degree programme but expresses hopes that its participants are inspired to continue with their education once they return.

CCIP assists its participants in earning professional certificates in business administration, agriculture, media, applied engineering, tourism and early childhood education.
