MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) took serious notice of a private TV channel for showing Pakistan’s map, excluding Jammu and Kashmir, and banned its transmission across the region.

Geo TV in its recent prime time talk-show, Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, portrayed the country’s map without depicting Jammu and Kashmir.

Geo TV in its programme showed the map of Pakistan without the state of Jammu and Kashmir which was against the national interest of the country,” said an official statement.

People of the mountainous region welcomed the AJK government’s decision of banning Geo TV. They said Geo TV first through its programme, Aman Ki Asha, has damaged the Kashmir cause and now it is displaying the map of Pakistan without Jammu and Kashmir which is against the national stand on the disputed Himalayan region.

The people raised a question under what basis the channel is doing all this, adding that the editorial policy and programming of the channel show as if it has been launched to protect the interests of India rather than Pakistan, which is unfortunate and must be investigated.

Whatagovt | 8 years ago | Reply PML N GOVT has not bothered to say anything. But Shazeb the Geo TV host was seen foolishly trying to undermine his stupidity.
Abbas | 8 years ago | Reply geo shouldn't be banned in Azad Kashmir. All indian channels are broadcast-ed in Azad Kashmir, Gov should first take action against them.
