Govt to soon provide evidence of RAW's involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan, source reveals

ISLAMABAD: Following an apex committee meeting on Karachi's security situation, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari have given the go-ahead to administrative changes in Sindh, The Express Tribune has learnt.

The two leaders met at the PM House on Thursday evening, and according to sources, discussed the strategy going forward for an operation in the Sindh, as well as the allocation of funds for the continuation of the Karachi operation.

Sources said that while the Sindh chief secretary has already been removed from his post, administrative secretaries of important provincial departments would also be replaced by ‘competent officers’.

Officers will be changed at the Sindh Home Department as well, and will now be directly answerable to the Sindh apex committee.

Further, the source said, that the incumbent IG Sindh would not be replaced. However, officers would now take directions from Rangers, the source added.

According to the source, the Safora attackers were last traced in a locality primarily inhabiting Baloch people. Further, the source went on to add that the government's preliminary investigations had revealed a Baloch 'hand' behind the attacks with the support of RAW.

The source went on to disclose that the federal government would soon hold a press conference to provide evidence of RAW's involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Financial issues between the Sindh and federal government also came under discussion as the premier was accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while Syed Murad Ali Shah and Saleem Mandwivala assisted Zardari.

Earlier on Thursday, a special apex committee meeting decided to extend law enforcement agencies writ to Karachi’s weakly governed areas, DG ISPR Asim Bajwa tweeted.

“Effective policing and surveillance will be carried out in Karachi’s suburbs to prevent sneaking terrorist attacks,” DG ISPR said.

Further, Bajwa said that department officials will be appointed on transparency and merit to help the system for “long term sustainability.”
