Disgusting : Restaurants fined for poor hygiene

LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority personnel fined the proprietor of a restaurant in Allama Iqbal Town for poor personal hygiene and preparing food in an unsanitary kitchen. A statement issued on Wednesday said the restaurant’s kitchen had open drains, dirty freezers and spoilt spices. A restaurant on Amir Road was fined Rs3,000 for having a broken down freezer and keeping food items and flour uncovered. A sweet shop on Amir Road was fined Rs2,000 for the same problems. PFA officials collected samples of spices to be tested at a laboratory. A hareesa shop in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town was fined Rs4,500 for selling substandard food, not keeping the kitchen clean and lack of compliance with PFA regulations.
