Health woes: Justice Tasnim Ahmed resigns

KARACHI: A sitting judge of the Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Muhammad Tasnim Ahmed, has resigned. Sources in the judiciary told The Express Tribune on Thursday that the judge cited ‘personal issues’ for his resignation. Ahmed was elevated to the high court as additional judge on February 18, 2010. Sources said the judge was suffering from ailments from some time. Justice Ahmed was among those whose term was not extended by the parliamentary committee, headed by then Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Nayyar Hussain Bukhari. The committee had twice rejected the judicial commission’s recommendations to extend the tenure of the SHC’s additional judges. Among his important verdicts was granting bail to the incarcerated chief of the Muhajir Qaumi Movement — Haqiqi, Afaq Ahmed.
