KARACHI:

It was an evening dedicated to luminous hues and breezy prints, ready to set the tone for the spring/summer season. Pastels are all the rage with Farah Talib Aziz lawn. The designer has collaborated with Lakhany Silk Mills (LSM) to create a unique collection titled ‘Garden of Grace’. The ensembles on display boasted skilful use of serene colours, experimenting with the short hemline fad. Intricately embellished with pearls, beaded and embroidery, the collection exuded a feminine appeal.

Featuring 12 distinct designs, Aziz’s collection is a peek into her signature aesthetics. “It had to be floral. I have a craze for flowers, pastel colours and birds, but I tried to keep it traditional as I wasn’t allowed to feature birds in this collection,” she told The Express Tribune. Her current collection, according to a press release, comprises discrete designs in two colour variants each. Using a diverse number of fabrics, such as lawn, jacquard, silk, cotton net and chiffon, Aziz’s collection features floral embellishments. Each outfit in the collection is priced at Rs6,350.

Confident in her ability, embellishment choices and tailoring, Aziz stated, “Lawn has garnered tough competition. However, we will hopefully remain among the top league because of what we have offered in the collection. Add-ons, such as lace and pearls, are rare and no one else is doing them, so we have an upper hand.” The latest collection will be available nationwide from April 16.

Anjum Zafar, who attended the event, said she hoped to buy a couple of lawn suits and found the collection interesting. For another attendee, Faryal Iqbal, the “cool summer colours and how Aziz designed the prints with a great summery feel in mind” were the most dynamic factors of the collection. Another client, Saira Pervaiz, who found the collection to be pleasant, said she was eagerly awaiting the line since over a month.

The designer is also set to create more prints in collaboration with LSM. Aziz shares that she will launch a series of collections around Eidul Azha, bringing forward eight more designs that are suitable for the winter season later this year. For winter, she plans on diverging from pastel hues. “I will work with bright, warm colours of the winter season. Black and other dark hues will be a dominant trend,” she said.

At the occasion, Rizwan Lakhany, director of LSM, said, “We take pride in always being on the fore of introducing new trends via state-of-the-art technology in design and production. We have been part of many exciting designer collaborations this season and look forward to further success with this new venture.” He added, “With our latest collaboration with the talented Farah Aziz Talib, we look forward to another successful campaign with fashion that is created to appeal to women of all demographic.” On why Ainy Jafri was selected as the face of LSM, brand manager Raheel Lakhany stated, “She has international reach and fit well with the theme of FTA for LSM.”
