Crackdown Over: 200 suspects arrested in Malakand Division

During the raids, police seized a large number of weapons and ammunition.

Police arrested over 200 suspected and wanted criminals during a series of crackdowns launched across Malakand Division.


According to a press release issued by the DIG’s office on Tuesday, crackdowns were launched in all seven districts of the division.


“At least 135 suspected and 94 wanted criminals were nabbed during crackdowns from all districts in the division,” stated the press release.


During the raids, police seized a large number of weapons and ammunition. “At least 12 AK-47s, 56 pistols, 3,458 bullets, four mortar shells and four rocket launchers were seized,” the press release added. According to the statement, a huge cache of drugs were also seized during the crackdown.


“Police recovered 66 kilogrammes of hashish, 146 litres of wine, 219 grammes of heroin and 2.13 grammes of opium,” it said.


The press release said the crackdowns were conducted to keep a check on anti-state elements and restore peace in the region.
