FAISALABAD:

Sunni Ittihad Council chairman Hamid Raza said on Thursday that some government functionaries had been conspiring to kill him.  He was speaking to SIC activists. Raza said they had ordered “Gullu Butts” to disperse people staging a protest.

He said the council would be compelled to issue a strike call if the police did not release workers of the SIC, the Sunni Tehreek and their allied organisations. Raza rejected the allegation that they had forcibly tried to bring business activity to a halt. Police Spokesperson Ramazan said police had only taken action against those violating the ban on use of loudspeakers for purposes other than the five daily calls for prayers.
