Kmc in action: Crackdown against marriage lawns

This operation will continue until all such marriage lawns are taken down

Press Release March 25, 2015

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro said that the KMC has launched a special campaign for the removal of marriage lawns built on greenbelts and parks. This operation will continue until all such marriage lawns are taken down. He said that while the anti-encroachment campaign of the KMC is in full swing, a special campaign has been started to vacate all the parks and greenbelts. Soomro said that any construction on the greenbelts or parks was illegal even if it is a government office as the Supreme Court has made it clear that no construction could be made on the land allocated for parks or greenbelts and that any such constructions will be removed. He issued a public message for the residents of Karachi that before booking a marriage lawn or hall, they must make sure that it is not built on a land that is not authorised to be used for this purpose.
