Foolproof security has been maintained in and around the Central Prison Mach to thwart any untoward incident during the execution of Saulat Mirza on March 19 whose death warrants were released by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Karachi.

“Saulat Mirza would be executed at 5:30am in the Central Prison Mach,” Superintendent of Mach Prison Ishaq Zheri told The Express Tribune. “Everything is on schedule,” he added.

There has been heavy deployment of police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Levies Force in and outside the Mach Prison.

“District police officer, deputy commissioner and other senior officials had been directed to visit the prison on a daily basis to review the security arrangements,” IG Prison Balochistan Bashir Bangulzai said.

According to the superintendent prison, Mirza was brought to Mach Prison during the month of February 2014.

Saulat Mirza was the only person on death row, who would be executed in Balochistan on administrative ground in Balochistan, Home Secretary Akbar Durrani said.
