NA-122 audit: Records submitted to NADRA headquarters for verification

LAHORE: Election records for NA-122 were submitted to National Database and Registration Authority headquarters in Islamabad for verification, Express News reported.

Earlier in 2014, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan had recorded his statement regarding the alleged NA-122 rigging in 2013 general polls at a hearing of an election tribunal.

Accepting Imran Khan’s request, an election tribunal also ruled that the votes in NA-122 constituency should be verified through thumb impressions.

NADRA will verify records in Islamabad through thumb impressions of the voters.

The decision came following the hearing of an application filed by the PTI, seeking verification of thumb impressions on ballot counterfoils using NADRA’s data.

Counsel for PTI chairman Imran Khan in his application had said some of the ballot papers issued to several polling stations were suspect.
