In custody: ‘Serial killer’ arrested from BKIA

Shahzad was shifted to an FIA police station and will be handed over to Punjab police.

PESHAWAR: Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration cell arrested a man wanted in various murder cases from Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) on Saturday. He has been identified as Khawar Shahzad, a resident of Daska, Sialkot. Speaking to The Express Tribune, FIA Inspector Amjad Khan said Shahzad is a serial killer who was trying to flee the country and go to Oman. “Shahzad had killed many people in Sialkot,” Khan said. “Police had fixed a bounty of Rs400,000 for his arrest.” Shahzad was shifted to an FIA police station and will be handed over to Punjab police. Separately, an explosive device weighing one kilogramme was found in a ground near Government Superior Science College in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station. Police said the device was found by residents who immediately informed the police.  The bomb disposal unit subsequently arrived on the spot and defused it. “We are not sure who planted the device or who the target was,” said a police official. “It could have been an attempt to create panic among residents.”
