LAHORE: Student nurses of Shaikha Fatima Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences continued their protest sit-in on Saturday at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital (SZH). They had launched a protest on Friday.

The administration held a meeting with the protesting nurses. However, they refused to call off their strike. One of the protesters, who requested anonymity, said that the institute did not have master’s degree teachers and an adequate library. “The PNC will not recognise the institute unless the perquisites are met. The administration has informed us that it is working to get the PNC recognition. However, we will not call off the strike until concrete steps are taken in this regard,” she said. Young Doctors’ Association president Ahsan Lali said that they endorsed the nurses’ demands. Meanwhile, the paramedic staff, who had also been protesting, agreed to call off their protest. Paramedics Association president Abdul Ghafoor Alvi said that the administration had accepted their demands.
