New responsibilities: Science foundation gets new head
The seat had been lying vacant since April last year.

Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF). The seat had been lying vacant since April last year. Previously, Ashraf worked as the vice-chancellor of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University, Multan. Dr Ashraf, who did his PhD from the University of Liverpool in 1986, has devised a number of new techniques for screening and selection of salt tolerant crop cultivars. He has also supervised 72 PhD and 94 MPhil scholars as a major supervisor and co-supervisor. Ashraf is also the Higher Education Commission’s distinguished national professor.
