All Pakistan Golf Championship: Munir clinches title and Rs1.4million

Islamabad-based golfer led the pack the entire tournament to finish 13-under par

KARACHI: Islamabad’s Muhammad Munir recorded four birdies and one eagle to clinch the title — and the Rs1.4million prize money — of the Faysal Bank 6th All Pakistan DHA Golf Open Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club.

The experienced golfer from the Islamabad Golf Club, who started the professional event with a brilliant opening round of six-under par 66, led the second day with four-under par 68.

On the final day, despite shooting one double bogey and one single bogey in the fourth and fifth hole respectively, he finished three-under par 69 to maintain his top position with an aggregate of 13-under par 203.

Ansar Mehmood of Navy, who started the final day on second position with seven-under par 137, succeeded to maintain his spot after ending with two-under par 70 and finished with an aggregate of nine-under par 207, while Muhammad Tariq maintained his third spot and finished with an aggregate of seven-under par 209.

In the amateur’s category, Zohaib Asif finished first with a gross total of six-over par 222. Sajid Khan — with 12-over par 228 — came second and Rofan Shamim came third with 16-over par 232.

Meanwhile, Ghani Khan won the senior’s professional category with two-under par 70, followed by Ghaffar Ahmed and Saleem Inayat with one-under par 71, while Akbar Ali and Muhammad Ilyas finished with one-over par 73.
