Sajjad downs Toufiq on day five

Seasoned cueist wins 4-1 in national snooker championship.

KARACHI: In-form Muhammad Sajjad raced to an easy 4-1 win against Muhammad Toufiq on the fifth day of the 40th National Snooker Championship at a local hotel in Karachi yesterday.

Sajjad won by scores of 73-31, 44-52, 65-33, 85-08 and 67-37, while Shahid Aftab made a good comeback by beating Sarbuland Khan 4-1 after succumbing to a shock loss on day four.

Imran Shehzad defeated youngster Hunain Amir with a scoreline of 59-47, 21-51, 70-39, 60-63, 60-08 and 96-34, while Toufiq lost his second match of the day against Nouman Iqbal, who won 4-2.

Bahadur Khan thrashed Muhammad Faheem in straight frames by 67-58, 60-32, 87-28 and 85-0, while Zulfiqar Qadir and Sultan Muhammad also won 4-0 against Nauman Awan and Uzair Aziz respectively.

Ahsan Javaid held onto a 4-3 win against Gul Afzal with scores of 65-10, 101-35, 65-52, 32-76, 25-79, 36-63 and 61-52.
