LAHORE:

President Syed Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government is working hard to put the economy back on track.

He was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The president said that policies of the government were in the right direction and economic indicators were portraying an encouraging picture.

LCCI President Ijaz Mumtaz said that Pakistan should be granted maximum market access on favourable terms so businesses can create jobs and opportunities for people.

While seeking the help of diplomats, the LCCI chief said that Pakistan wants trade, not aid.

He added that mutual trade could be enhanced by exchanging trade delegations and organising fairs and exhibitions. For that matter, visa regime needs to be liberalised for bona fide businessmen in order for them to travel frequently.
