BAHAWALPUR:

Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two people for killing their friend over a laptop and a cell phone on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said Muhammad Usman, 18, a resident of Shadab Colony had lent his friends Sharjeel Haider and Nooruz Zaman his laptop and cell phone last week.

He said on Monday, Zaman and Haider called Usman while he was at his father’s shop in Mailay Wali Gali. The boys told him to meet them so they could return his valuables. They took him to a house near railway station where they stabbed him and tried to set the body on fire. The spokesman said they later cut off the limbs, put the pieces in a trunk and buried it.

He said Usman’s father filed a missing-person report when the boy did not return home. He said City DSP Shafqat Atta, Baghdadul Jadeed SHO Aamir Ghauri and Satellite Town Sub Inspector Muhammad Iqbal investigated the case and arrested Haider and recovered Usman’s cell phone from him.

He said Haider confessed to murder and took them to where the body was buried.
