Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan told the media in Lahore that he had requested the former captain to spare some time to meet the players and give them a motivational lecture.
"But unfortunately he has not been able to give us time and we were told that if the team went to Islamabad he could try to meet them for a while," Khan said.

Imran captained the team that surprised everyone by winning the World Cup in 1992 in Australia and New Zealand.
The PCB chairman further said that the players were very keen to meet with Imran before flying off for the World Cup. The cricketer-turned politician who also recently got married a second time is revered and respected by players of the present generation and team who were keen to meet with him to talk to him about the World Cup before going to Australia and New Zealand.

Shaharyar Khan also admitted that since the Pakistan team didn't possess world class batsmen like Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers, they would have to rely on team spirit and collective effort to get good results in the World Cup.
The Pakistan squad is due to embark on their World Cup campaign on Tuesday night from Lahore and will play two one-day internationals against New Zealand on January 31 and February 3 before flying to Australia for their warm up games.
Khan said the team would have short conditioning camps in New Zealand and Australia to acclimatize to the conditions there.
"I have told the players that if they win the World Cup we will reward them handsomely. What every Pakistani wants from them is 100 per cent effort. In cricket nothing is impossible and we have won ICC events in the past as well," he said.

Adnan Siddiqui and Ch. Allah Daad are the most brain-dead, obsequious patwaris from PMLN that I know of. Even free trolls are better than them, wonder what they are getting paid from their "bosses" caz even if they were free they would still be a rip off :p
@Adnan Siddiqi:
This @Ranjha fella has seriously gone loco in trying to defend IK like some brainless disciple.
This Naan Siddiqi guy has seriously gone cuckoo in his defense for the indefensible! Is he the son of that idiotic looking advisor of our Prima Donna Minister, what is his name ....some Stupid Siddiqi?

Lord have mercy on our team for not getting a pep talk from some lunatic who won some cup more than 20 years ago. Since his pep talks either led to Pakistan being kicked out during the first rounds in 2003 and 2007 or being beaten in the semi in 2011, who knows that Pakistan might even go on to surprise everyone in 2015.
Besides, in his highly disturbed and vitriolic state of mind - he would have ended up crying in front of the team on how NS stole his mandate and how CJ Chaudhry rigged the elections.
Shaharyar Khan also admitted that since the Pakistan team didn’t possess world class batsmen like Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers, they would have to rely on team spirit and collective effort to get good results in the World Cup
What a de-motivating comment coming from the board chairman ? He is trying to prove that our team is not talented ? Even if they are not talented, such comments will only demotivate the team and give them more pressure.
And, Mr Shahryar khan, what are you doing to find such talent ? Nothing !
@Shams Khan: And did the PCB have time for him when the Trophy was brought to Pakistan?
Why is everybody suddenly getting all their news from NDTV? I think this is the 3rd piece of news that quoting them!
Guess what ? Once he retired, its not really his responsibility on how the cricketing team performs. Unlike other former cricketer who keep sticking their noses into Pakistan cricket affairs, without having a clue about how to resolve the issues surrounding PCB and the team.
@Ranjha: Don't take it hard. I think Ashraf was mere joking!
@Ranjha: Dear Ranjha, Ashraf was trying to be sarcastic. He was joking. Please don't take it seriously. We know how darbari's try to put the blame on IK. Even the petrol crises is because of Imran Khan as he used 21 car protocol! Haha.
@Ashraf:
He has time for Reham Khan and not for the cricket team?? He should be tried in military court for treason.
And you should be put in a straitjacket and shipped to a lunatic asylum! What brain dead comment! Typical darbari.
@Saad: he was with parents of apS in chehlum, so you should eb ashamed. Et has the habit if projecting any and evrything negative about PTI, Ik. Just too obvious. If IK is responsible for everything then boot the PM out, let him take charge.
Did PCB have the courtesy to invite him
why didn't ill planned Govt institute PCB doesn't arrange a meeting with IK when the team was in Peshawar to meet the APS victims ?
He has time for Reham Khan and not for the cricket team?? He should be tried in military court for treason.
So Mr. Shaharyar Khan, do you feel any shame in not being able to discover talented and 'world class' players? What efforts have you made towards it? How many domestic toppers were given a chance to play international matches in the last 2 years? Shame on you for not doing anything.
For God's sake now don't hold him responsible when the team fails to win the cup!
